PostSubject: Datatool System 3 Remote   Datatool System 3 Remote EmptyMon Jun 01, 2009 1:10 pm

Help....can anyone tell me where the battery for the remote is supposed to be? I managed to open it up to see what batteries I need for it, and I couldn't see any in there. Very weird contraption.

It is very sometimeish when it comes to activating or deactivating the alarm. Sometimes I have to press it a lot of times before I get a response. Also, the range at which I can use it is rubbish, I have to stand with the stupid thing right up against the bike. Is it just mine? or is this just how they are?

I hate it Mad

No its not meant to be like that. It does sound like it a battery life problem to be honest but i havent had to replace my battery yet in my remote so i dont really know. But its meant to have a decent range on it and work straight away because myn does anyway.

Thanks for the link and info, but I know it's probably a battery issue, but I cannot see where the battery is when I remove the cover. There is nothing there that I can see looks like the battery. Is it just a matter of taking of the plastic cover, and it should be looking me the face? or is the battery hidden somewhere else in there, I just can't see the dam thing Mad

just a thought but did you look on both sides of the circuit board as they sometimes put the battery on the other side

the battery should be behind the green circuit board in the black box thing.
If the battery is not removable from the black box then you need to get a new one from a datatool dealer. Order No.02012064 (battery transponder)
gimme a shout if you need one Wink

Found the little beggers!!! I didn't realise I could remove the circuit board, the batteries are located at the bottom of it. Thanks guys Very Happy

These remotes are so poorly designed, even getting the plastic cover off is a task in itself.....horrible things

Yeh i had the exact same problem it annoyed me so much i was considering upgrading to system 4!!

If you want to improve the remote range, hold it against your head or by your mouth!! Works like a charm!!
