PostSubject: Re: THE MBC LONDON TO BRIGHTON CRUIZE 2009   THE MBC LONDON TO BRIGHTON CRUIZE 2009 EmptyWed Jun 24, 2009 6:44 am

Hi All,

I found out yesterday that the Brighton Cruize organised for Saturday will be making a couple of stops on route to Brighton. One of them being Boxhill…so there is now a change of plan as it makes no sense at all riding to Greenford to start the ride.

For those of you who live in SE London, we will now meet at 12 noon at Catford McDonalds. We should get to Boxhill between 12:45 - 13:00 to meet the main ride. They are leaving Greenford around 12, so they should also arrive at Boxhill around the same time. For those of you who would prefer to make your way directly to Boxhill, we will meet you there for around 1pm.

Please can you confirm if you will be meeting me at Catford, so I know who to expect?

Please see further details below:

START: LONDON MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM
10am See the bikes and meet the bikers have some refreshments
pictures and photos depart 12pm

1ST MEET POINT: RYKA’S CAFÉ BOX HILL
Ryka's is one of the best biking destinations in England and is the place to be seen on your bike

2ND MEET POINT: PEASE POTTAGE SERVICES ON A23 JUST OFF A264 ROUNDABOUT
END: BRIGHTON PIER Madeira Drive
6pm There will be enough parking for everyone on Madeira Drive final meet up here from 6pm onwards.

TOTAL TIME: ALL DAY EVENT 10AM - 6PM
67 MILES
ALL BIKES ARE WELCOME THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS
Cruisers, Sports Bikes, Scooters, Quads and Trikes.

How to ride in a group

Riding in a group doesn’t require special skills, but you do need to remember a few points to ensure you have an enjoyable as well as safe ride. Here’s MBC’s top 3 tips for riding in large groups.

1. Keep your distance. Sounds obvious, but bunching up reduces your visibility as well as giving you less time to react to anything that happens. Stagger the group so you’re not riding in each others wheels tracks – the first rider keeps to the right side of the lane, and the next rider rides on the left two bike lengths back, and so on.

2. The rider at the front of a very large group should stick below 40mph. Groups covering hundreds of yards tend to spread out, and riders towards the back naturally speed up to catch up if they become separated at junctions. Keeping the lead bike slow prevents people riding too fast to stay in touch.

3. Stay in formation. If someone pulls over, by all means overtake, but pulling out and overtaking the group achieves nothing and creates a new risk.

Hi Craig, not sure who is going from the Forum, but definately you can meet up with me and my other mates at Boxhill for 1pm. The ONLY thing I will say is, if it is raining, then I won't be riding. They are forecasting thunder storms and heavy rain from tomorrow through Sunday, so I will see what the weather is like when I get up on Saturday.

Hopefully I should be at the meet tomorrow, but just in case I can't make it, please send me your mobile number via pm so I can call you on Saturday to confirm whether we are still going on the Cruize.

Hey all,

I have managed to talk my other half into coming along, I hope it is not too late to add more names to the list Smile

We would be going to Boxhill and, hopefully, meeting up with the main ride there.

Although, if the weather is really bad I don't think either of us will be up for a days riding in miserable weather. Both of us are still learning, so i don't want to push it Razz

Ok cool!

The weather at the moment, if anything, looks too hot, no sign of any rain clouds where I live.

So unless there is a massive downpour in ther next cople of hours we will be heading out to Boxhill...

To anyone going, lookout for the 2 noobs with L plates, that will most likely be me and James - I'm sure we will stickout like a sore thumb on our 125's Laughing

Well we didn't quite make it to Brighton ... anyone know if the main ride ever turned up at Boxhill in the end?

It was nice to meet you Craig and hope you managed to have some fun when you returned Boxhill without us 2 slowing you down Razz

It was cool following someone who knows what theyre doing... and it showed me how much I still have to learn.

Happy riding Very Happy

Well I got to Brighton with my mates around 4:30ish, and we didn't see signs of a cruize anywhere. Thought we would have seen loads of other bikers, but there were none other than the crew I rode with. So not sure at all what happened there!!!

But we had a great ride down there, we took the A22 and I have to say it was a wicked route.

Gutted I couldnt come, but glad some of you got to meet up.
Bikerbabe600 said her route on the A22 was real good so we'll have to try that soon Smile Craig and 125girl if you are around during the week give me a call so we can link up for a daytime ride
