Proposed France long weekender for 600cc and up, leaving on Friday crossing to France Calais via the Euro Tunnel and riding to Dijon.

We intend on stopping for lunch about 1 hour from Calais and then ride on to Saint Quentin to stay the night in a B&B, from there we will ride to Dijon.

We then reverse the journey in order to head home on Monday.

The roads in France are well known for being great roads for bikes, this will be a trip to remember!

The suggested dates are Friday 25th June – Monday 28th June
The Eurotunnel costs £44 return with the bike, once we have an idea of who is coming we will look into group discounts and accommodation.

I am considering this, it will be an adventure doing that distance with no wind protection.
give me a few weeks to check on my rehab and I will confirm. I would, if going, look to stop over at someone's the night before if possible so my trip to the train is broken up.
I will keep you informed.

Info for Craig & the rest of us.

You are allowed to ride in europe on your bike/car licence under the same rules that you have to adhere to in the UK. So if you can only ride a restricted bike here, that means you can only ride a restricted bike in Europe.
You need to go to: www.ehic.uk.com you then complete the EHIC card which is free, and this allows you nhs like cover (this replaces the old E111 card), so if you are injured in France you can get medical attention. a bill will be sent to your home and generally all the costs will be met by the NHS. (But this is not a replacement to Travel insurance, as travel insurance covers things like repatriation to the UK).
Contact your insurance company and let them know you want to travel to France, you might find they cover this type of travel free of charge for travel less than say 30 days. I do recommend that all of us have breakdown cover so our bikes can be repatriated if they can't be fixed.
As to high Vis, it is not necessary to wear any high Vis on a motorbike in France, but is recommended if visibility is low, but it is not law.
It is also recommended we carry spare bulbs and a puncture repair kit (the CO2 cannister jobbie) as it is a 90-100 euro fine if a bulb is out.
We also all have to carry photo copies of our V5 (vehicle registration) and insurance certificate as well as our driving licences with us at all time and need to insure we have a GB sticker on the back or licence plates with GB on them(this is law).
Hope this helps. Very Happy

Hey guys, based on the previous posts, we now have 7 people who say they want to come along. I would like to suggest that we cut off the number of riders at 10. A nice even, and I think, comfortable number to ride with.

If you are definately serious about coming, then as Redz has suggested, please PM me to let me know....or I will take names on Friday at the meet.

We are also going to suggest that once you confirm you are coming, that you pay a deposit to commit to the trip.

The amount is yet to be confirmed, but it will likely be the cost of the Euro Tunnell return fare which is around £44 each. But I will confirm.

So please let me know who is definately coming?

See you Friday.....ride safe bounce
