yup new shape wheels

looking to get a solo race unit on her and get rid of the cowl - not a great fit and makes it look shit, will change the tail light and indicators and if i can find one, get a smaller number plate

fix the fairings - cant see on the pics but they have holes on them, respray black and powdercoat the rims same colour

jolly moto SP system and thats it Smile lol

haha baby-steps BigB.....a 500cc 2T bike can probabaly outrun new 1000's...thats a lota power!

ahh that engine rebuild stuff is what kept me from getting a RS....otherwise they are well nice...esp the new shape!
2010 is gonna be a good year tho...my license derestricts in april so we'll have some serious rideouts yea!

babysteps? not at all! if they made a 600 2stroke in this generation i would have bought me one of them!

you'll be suprised with the RS' mate, they are only tempramental if you treat it like shit and dont maintain it!

mines done 30,000km all on original parts except the piston and barrel, just use good oil, run it properly and keep it well maintained, will be laughing! i admit mines being a bit temp atm, but it is in need of a rebuild so i dont mind dishing the money out, plus it s a bit of a project for me and i prefer it to my old 400

amazing bikes mate, if i were you, id get one Wink and if you do, dont go for a 2008-2009 model as they are heavily restricted and have an electronic carb meaning remapping! if you want new shape find a 2006/2007 as it the same engine as the previous ones without the heavy restriction and elecronic carb .... yes i know my stuff about em lol

i cant stand 2 strokes the bloody noise they make winds me up haha. Thats why i didnt get a rs125. But still nice bike though.

Why dont u think about upgrading to big bike like a 600 or something instead of getting a 250 ect 2 stroke? Or do u just love 2 stroke that much lol.

yeah BigB as you said they gotta be well maintained...so if its second hand you dont know if they have put in the high grade 2T oil and whatnot!...also i heard u gotta warm up 2strokes nicely before you rag them or else you're gonna get problems!

im just gonna wait it out till next year, im fine with the cbr! i use my bike so much even normal servicing can be a hassle...busy life...so a 4stroke honda 125 was the perfect option for me!

and yeah as craig said...im not a fan of 2T noise either...bigB you should check out mine and craig's 125's...we both got exhausts on them and they seriously growl!

also i heard the 06/07 RS's got a 28mm carb instead of the old school 34mm...and yeah you gotta de-restrict the powervalve i think it is!

see thats where im different compared to you two lol, ive been brought up around 2strokes so its pretty much in the blood, i may not be the best mechanic in the world or know much about bikes but i know enough to get me by and look after a 2stroke!

love the sounds of 2strokes lol my farts sound like em on a good day lol Razz

guys i would love a 600 btw im huge on 2strokes i would most likely get a 250 if i can find one in decent nick, but because the RS250 are hard to come by, you'll be suprised as to what is really available! if i did go for a 600 then it would most likely be the CBR600rr 2007/08 model as it feels similar to my RS to ride, some people may say different!

if anything i would love the Ninja750 "P" model (1998) cracking bike!

high maintainance i dont mind, because for me its a passion so i dont mind the hassel Smile when you think about it, it doesnt actually cost THAT much to maintain, engine rebuild cost between £300-500 depending on parts etc.. then general parts like chain n sprockets, lube n cleaner, bearings (last up to a few 1000 miles at a time) up to around £100 then you got the oil which is £10 a go n last 1500miles-/+ every litre or so ... so its not all that costly! most servicing i do myself anyways!

if im honest i dont like the sound of the 125 4t's even with a different exhaust ... all sound and no guts Razz no disrespect guys! but i couldnt justify myself getting a 4stroke 125, ive ridden the R125 Yam, cracking bike but it just didnt feel right - found it hard to ride compared to the RS and i rode it for a weekend whilst out in italy, the CBR ive never ridden as it just ... well if you see me in person you'll know why i refuse to ride one lol

as for the 2008/09 RS125, no no ... sorry ALL RS125's come with 28mm carbs EXCEPT the SP model which came standard with a 34mm carb and de-cat exhaust system, the 2008/09 comes with a 28mm carb, but it is electronic making it restricted even more than it already is! so you will have to remap the CDI etc.. to run her on full power!

sorry to blabber on guys lol

nice one, didnt know you had an RS mate?

get yourself running on Dunlops, you'll be shocked at how good they grip, the Qualifiers are great for the road, 209's are awesome for the track but dont have as much life in them, best £200 i spent fitting and balancing Smile

seem to fit nicely on the 06+ rims compared to the older rims

yeah, got myself a 07 model on a 56 plate, great fun. Im taking it off the road in november and am going to start to gradually strip and rebuild it. I'll give those dunlops a go i think.

nice one mate, like i said to you earlier - if you need parts gis a shout Smile

right bit of an update:

bought some new bits for the bike, got a whole set of internal gears - Balancers, Oil Gear, Drive Gear and Idle gear, £50 delivered from Spell Fame - deffinately worth a look Damo mate, rotax engine specialists - some gokarts have the same parts Smile

also got a replacement riders seat as mine has broken hooks ... yes it rattles a little! got a replacement sprocket cover too as mine never had one - never took off the right hand fairing to have a look!

new chain tension roller

and finally new fork seals

got new fork oil (20w) and brake fluid too

will be replacing my lights as they have died Sad only side light works

still to come - LED indi's front and rear, braided brake lines, front caliper, clutch gasket and gear oil... possibly a new top end and wheel bearings too .... body work, sorry Damon mate, ive been all over the place lately so will get back to you about it as soon as mate

thinking about replacing my clocks with a set of Koso's ... i want Ducati 1098 style clocks!

nice one, yeah will let you know bout the fairings!

Spell fame have great service too, had them deliver parts to my work, ordered on a friday and they were with me by wednesday! If anything get parts that you know will fit because nothing is marked Aprilia and is about 3rd or so of the cost, if not a hole lot less! But i think the clutch gasket and head gasket is different, rotax karts dont have the powervalve unit - correct me if im wrong!

As for the ride, im wanting to be going on one this sunday providing my knee is good n i get some work done on the bike, but will send you a txt to let you know!
