I have found it hard to find a good tattoo artist in the UK, I mean one you can actually book Suspect
Alot of people seem to be compitent at tracing and can keep thier lines nice and straight etc but not the greatest at drawing up thier own art work.

Am I just looking in the wrong places?

there are a few good ones down here. a friend of mine wanted a tiger head with a lot of detail. took him a few years to find the right artist to do the work. its not something I'd get done but you can't fault the work its stunning. but you have to book. there's also a place in rainham that has won comps with their tribal work but 3 months wait.
i used to go to hungary for inkin but the wife put a stop to that.... (grumble grumble exwife grumble grumble)

as for tracing, even the best of the best does it to get an idea of placement, size and all the other reasons that i cant think of right now. just need to watch them on the box. i like freehand as its seems more organic.

Fantasy tattoo in Peckham/Nunhead gotta be one of the better places in London.

You can check the work on facebook - they have a page http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=19170357503&ref=ts .

Ask for Mark - specialises in Japanese and street/gangster stuff. Don't be frightened by their appearance they are pretty friendly, registered with Southwark, all insured up and very clean - always using high quality colour.

You can pick something off the wall or ask for something to be drawn up.

you need to get a cleaner in cos your mind is well filthy. Very Happy
she took me down to where they store the art. they only have room to show about 5% of what they have, hence back door. lol

What are you talking about... i wasnt being filthy... you must have percieved it the wrong way making YOUR mind the filthy one!!!

I was merely stating the fact i like making a grand entrance!!

Generally speaking i just hate modern art and id like to see that building demolished but hey thats just me....

Call me old fashioned but i like my art to look like the thing it is meant to be... if its meant to be a painting of a boat... i want to be able to see its a boat!! I dont wanna see no wonky lines and blurry paint, that doesnt make it art it just means your rubbish at drawing boats!!!

Art can be anything from a machine, motorcycle, to a sculpture or painting. But when i went to the tate modern they had this room painted all white with an oscelating fan on in one corner, and white carrier bags on the floor with smiley faces drawn on them, and the fan was blowing them around. THAT WAS IT. Then the plaque that explained it said how this was meant to represent modern day society and how people are just tossed to the ground and blown around in the wind....
Sorry but that aint art, thats a waste of my precious time thats what that is!!

People need to start putting the effort back in.. I didnt see Monet drawing smiley faces of tescos bags... Cha!!!

Rant over!!!

I've not been to the modern for that very reason. last time I was at the tate was many years ago when they had some bricks on the floor and the artist was wanting £100k for them.
I do like all sorts of art as in if it moves me I like it. but a room with a fan and some bags takes the piss I think. if the artist needs to explain it then s/he needs a new job. yet there is some portraits and landscapes that leave me cold and the critics love them....

For real though, I agree with Redz, it is hard to find a decent artist around these days. I love tattoos as an art form but I have seen some shockingly bad ones!! Maybe that has been another factor in why I haven't got one yet!!

when you posting some pics of yours? You got some real nice tribal, have you ever thought of getting a bike related pic done? I have many times but i am worried about it just getting dated and looking sad.

well I go on the same principle as names as in wife, girlfriends and such like! my ex wife wanted me to have her name on me. good job I didn't say yes on that one. lol
what im saying is what do you do if you get a tat of your bike and then change it??? guess its like having a yellow bike with yellow leathers and then changing the bike for a blue one! or is it just me?
i dont have any photos of mine as im not finished yet Very Happy but i am thinking of my next one...... maybe double helix but done in a crop circle style and then i'll get ...... Very Happy

I hear you on that bro, bike matching leathers is an expensive change unless you plan to always have the same colour bike LOL

another is Sims Tattoos which i highly reccomend, quality and balue for money too, only prob is you have to book with him, but he's well trusted and has done all my tats (but one) sisters and aunti's tats
