Subject: Mayday Run - Monday, 4th May Wed Apr 29, 2009 6:11 am
Hi guys...I'm going with the missus on the May day run, but not going the traditional route because
a) I don't really want get caught in bike traffic b) I like to ride nice twisty routes (which is what will be used to get to Hastings)
This is a meet us and ride meet so just turn up if you want and join us....We won't be hanging around waiting for people because it's a long day for us (Essex residents now) and also Hastings gets busy very quickly with the 4000+ bikes turning up.
Details.
Meeting at 8:30 am at:
Cafe Express 29 High Street, Ashford Kent TN24 8TF
Leaving the cafe 9am sharp.
The corner man system will be in use
Like I said...If you fancy...Just turn up...If not, we might see those that are going to Hastings later.
Cheers

I'm going to have to join your Essex Bikers group mate as I'll be needing new biking buddies now that I'll be out of London.
If you don't mind mate, please send me details of your group and where you ride.

CANCELLED
I'm sorry guys....My bike is sick...One of the fork legs is leaking oil badly (again) and according to a mechanic that had a quick look today, he advised that the leg needs to be replaced and that the bike is unsafe to ride in that state.
So, for the 5th year running...I'm going to miss the May day run again

Nice one mate...Taken down your number and will send you a text when I have my bike back on the road...Normally go out for a blast on a Sunday and head to that 127 diner next to the Dick Turpin.
I'd remove your mobile number off here though as you might get some phone calls from people asking for your bank details.
If you hear this voice, put the phone down...

I have a few photos on my facebook....really not that much to look at.
The ride down there was good, I was with 4 other riders, although the group was much bigger than that, but we got split up. I was with Khuram, Patrick and Tania and one other rider. The closer we got to Hastings, the more people we saw on the road side just waving at the bikers going by. The traffic for cars, as you can imagine was a joke. But what I couldn't believe, was the traffic or should I say road block caused by the 100's of bikes trying to get onto the seafront. But we filtered through most of it, as I was not sitting in that, for my baby to get overheated.
We hung out for a while, got some food then headed to Brighton, that was a good ride. There were about 15 of us on that part of the ride. Jay, the guys we met at Boxhill, and a load of other guys from my side of town. Got to say though, the weather turn out crap, by the time we got to Brighton, start to drizzle and it was cold. We didn't stay in Brighton that long, then headed back to London. Most of us finished the day off at a BBQ in Catford.
All in all it was a good ride out, met so many people and looking forward to the next ride at the next bank holiday at the end of this month. They are planning a ride to Reading, then Luton and back to London.
A few pictures of the day:
