Harder accelleration

As powerfull as my R1 was, I wanted it to pull harder off the lights and easier to wheelie. To achieve this over a period of time these are the changes I made.

I changed the gearing by buying Renthal sprockets going up 2 teeth at the rear and down 1 tooth on the front sprocket. These were easy to change using the workshop manual and no special tools were needed (used my socket set) until I tried to remove the front sprocket, i needed an air wrench for that! This made a bg differance but ...

Staff and fans of BMW Motorrad were looking forward to March 1st 2009 with great excitement, and I dont think anyone was dissapointed! At the introductory race to the Superbike World Championship in Phillip Island / Australia, two BMW motorcycles will be in the starting line-up for the first time. After recent tests in Portimao and Valencia, riders Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus are optimistic about the future and the mood in the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team is positive. The racing bikes will ...

Which hoops????

Hi there I am interested to get your views on the variety of hoops that everyone is using.

For example I am on Bridgestone BT016's and ride a GSXR750K7 which are great for a few thousand miles and give me a lot of smiles in the twisties but as I commute on my babie they do square off and end up losing their feel. Clearly it is about compromise but I would value opinions around other hoops/experiences and thoughts.

Cheers

Why change to an aftermarket exhaust system? Slip on or full system?

Aftermarket exhaust modifications fall into two categories: full systems and slip-ons. The full systems replace the entire stock system including the CAT. High-end exhausts with titanium headers still offer fair weight savings compared to the stock ones. Some headers have various tapers and crossovers to enhance low- and midrange torque while still improving top-end power. In fact, some systems offer minimal gains in peak power, choosing to instead shape the power curve for more midrange and ...
